Criminal Law

You are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  To be proven guilty in a criminal court means proven beyond reasonable doubt.

These are the guiding principles that define Laurence’s practice.

Even if you are found guilty (or plead guilty), that does not mean you should just accept whatever punishment that the Police suggest.  You may want to apply for a discharge without conviction.

If convicted, what is the least restrictive outcome in the circumstances?

Laurence has more than 15 years experience acting for clients in District Courts around Aotearoa, New Zealand.  He has also appeared in the High Court and Court of Appeal on appeals in this area.
